It is what a small-language market looks like when domestic pop wins outright.<\/p>\n<h2>What the Lithuanian chart actually looks like<\/h2>\n<p>Reading the <a href=\"https:\/\/kworb.net\/spotify\/country\/lt_daily.html\">Spotify Lithuania daily chart mirror on kworb<\/a>, the shape of the market is obvious:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Positions 1 through 4 are all Jessica Shy tracks, led by &#8220;Saul\u0117 Nesileis&#8221;.<\/li>\n<li>She holds 8 of the top 20 and 15 of the top 50.<\/li>\n<li>The other Lithuanian-language entries in the top 30 include Justinas Jarutis, Adrina, Free Finga, Solo Ansamblis, m\u00e9sh and Paulina Pauk\u0161taityt\u0117.<\/li>\n<li>International repertoire is present but scattered: Jin, HUGEL, Shakira, Tame Impala.<\/li>\n<li>Catalogue foreign hits (Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Pitbull) sit below position 35, which is where a small market&#8217;s passive listening usually lands.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The streaming market is smaller than the fandom<\/h2>\n<p>Statista&#8217;s outlook puts <a href=\"https:\/\/www.statista.com\/outlook\/dmo\/digital-media\/digital-music\/music-streaming\/lithuania\">Lithuania&#8217;s music streaming market at roughly US$11.38m by 2027<\/a>. That is the whole country, all repertoire, every platform.<\/p>\n<p>For comparison, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latga.lt\/en\/about\/\">LATGA states on its own site<\/a> that it collects about EUR 11,853,000 in royalties annually across 7,500 members, covering music, literature, audiovisual, visual arts and drama.<\/p>\n<p>CMO means collective management organisation, the body that licenses uses of works in bulk and distributes the money. Lithuania runs two of them for music:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>LATGA<\/strong> handles authors and composers, founded 1990.<\/li>\n<li><strong>AGATA<\/strong> handles performers and phonogram producers, the neighbouring rights side.<\/li>\n<li>Neither of them is where your Spotify money comes from. That arrives from your distributor, on the recording side.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The real payday is a park in Vilnius<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lrt.lt\/naujienos\/muzika\/680\/2711150\/jus-isprotejot-isgraibstyti-bilietai-ir-i-antraji-jessicos-shy-koncerta-vingio-parke\">LRT reported<\/a> that after her first Vingis Park show sold out in under a day, a second date sold out overnight, and Shy posted the number herself: &#8220;80 t\u016bkstan\u010di\u0173 \u017emoni\u0173 vos per dvi dienas.&#8221; Eighty thousand people in two days. The shows land on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bilietai.lt\/lit\/renginiai\/koncertai\/jessica-shy-482844\/\">28 and 29 August 2026<\/a>, making her the first Lithuanian artist to stage two consecutive concerts at the venue.<\/p>\n<p>That is where the author royalty gets interesting. LATGA&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latga.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Muzikos-tarifai-patv.-2025-01-16.pdf\">music tariff schedule, approved by its council on 16 January 2025<\/a>, sets the top live-concert band at 7 percent, applying when LATGA repertoire makes up more than 75 percent of the programme. The rate steps down to 3.5 percent when repertoire share falls to between 25 and 50 percent.<\/p>\n<p>An all-original, all-Lithuanian headline set sits in the top band. Two sold-out nights at national-stadium scale therefore generate author money on a rail that has nothing to do with streams. LATGA also approved <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latga.lt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/07\/Muzikos-paskirtymo-taisykles-patv.-2026-04-21.pdf\">revised music distribution rules on 21 April 2026<\/a>, which govern how that pot gets split.<\/p>\n<h2>What an independent act should take from this<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Register works with LATGA <em>before<\/em> the show, not after. Concert royalties are distributed against submitted setlists and registered works.<\/li>\n<li>Register recordings and performances with AGATA separately. Author registration does not cover them.<\/li>\n<li>Understand that neither registration touches your streaming income, which flows through your distributor.<\/li>\n<li>Since 2022, Lithuanian authors who assign rights to a CMO cannot have the collected remuneration taken over by a producer, following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latga.lt\/naujienos\/svarbus-autoriu-teisiu-ir-gretutiniu-teisiu-istatymo-pakeitimai-priimti\/\">the copyright law amendments LATGA helped push through the Seimas<\/a>. Check your producer contracts against that.<\/li>\n<li>Demand per-territory reporting. Fifteen chart slots at home can vanish inside a global royalty statement that only totals by month.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The distribution read<\/h2>\n<p>Small-language markets punish distributors that treat the world as one number. If your audience is a country of under three million people who mostly stream in their own language, territory-level reporting and local DSP coverage are not luxuries, they are the only way to see your own business. Compare this with <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/portugal-artists-75-percent-new-releases-foreign-repertoire-81-percent-money\/\">Portugal, where local artists made 75 percent of new releases but foreign repertoire took 81 percent of the money<\/a>, and with <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/netflix-pay-polish-creators-streaming-royalties-songwriter-spotify-no-such-right\/\">Poland, where a Netflix royalty deal left Spotify songwriters with no equivalent right<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Lithuania is the rarer case: the audience already picked local.
