Its most-streamed catalogue on Spotify, meanwhile, is Portuguese-titled phonk produced in Bishkek.<\/p>\n<p>That gap is the whole story for any Kyrgyz artist trying to get paid this year.<\/p>\n<h2>The catalogue that actually streams<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/soundcharts.com\/en\/songs\/spotify-streams\/country\/kyrgyzstan\">Soundcharts ranks songs by artists from Kyrgyzstan<\/a> by Spotify streams. The top of that list is not Kyrgyz-language pop.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Eu Sento Gabu!&#8221; by PXLWYSE<\/strong>, roughly 142 million Spotify streams, a Brazilian funk-styled phonk instrumental released in April 2024.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;LUZ ROJA &#8211; Slowed&#8221; by bxkq<\/strong>, around 65 million streams.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;TE CONOCI &#8211; Super Slowed&#8221; by bxkq and PXLWYSE<\/strong>, around 35 million.<\/li>\n<li><strong>&#8220;Rasstoyanie&#8221; by Bakr and Ulukmanapo<\/strong>, around 35 million, the highest Russian-language entry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>bxkq is an electronic producer born in Bishkek, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.viberate.com\/artist\/bxkq-5244\/\">his Viberate profile<\/a>. PXLWYSE labels himself on TikTok as a phonk and funk producer from Kyrgyzstan.<\/p>\n<p>Neither makes music for the Kyrgyz domestic market. They make it for a global algorithmic audience that does not care what passport the uploader holds.<\/p>\n<h2>Kyrgyzpatent licenses the room, not the stream<\/h2>\n<p>Kyrgyzstan has no independent collecting society in the way most markets do. CMO means collective management organisation, the body that licenses music use and pays royalties to writers and performers. Here that job sits with Kyrgyzpatent, the State Service of Intellectual Property and Innovation.<\/p>\n<p>The framework, as set out in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibc.kg\/en\/analysis\/articles\/2199_copyright_law\">an IBC.kg legal analysis of the royalty obligation<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The governing statute is the Law on Copyright and Related Rights No. 6, dated 14 January 1998.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum rates come from Government Decree No. 488 of 22 July 2002, built around concert ticket receipts and flat rates for restaurants, bars and cafes.<\/li>\n<li>Distribution rules trace back to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wipo.int\/wipolex\/en\/legislation\/details\/11578\">a Kyrgyzpatent decision of 28 February 2000, amended in October 2004<\/a>, per WIPO Lex.<\/li>\n<li>Venues playing music unlicensed face fines of 30 to 50 calculation indexes for citizens under Article 345, at 100 soms per index. That is 3,000 to 5,000 soms, roughly 34 to 57 US dollars at mid-August 2026 rates.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A 57-dollar ceiling is not an enforcement regime. It is a rounding error on a Friday night bar tab, and it explains why domestic public performance income is not a serious revenue line for Kyrgyz writers.<\/p>\n<h2>State music policy is about stages, not rights<\/h2>\n<p>Kyrgyzstan&#8217;s visible music interventions have targeted live performance. The Culture Ministry <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rferl.org\/a\/kyrgyzstan-lip-synching-banned-performers\/32205245.html\">banned lip-syncing at state and public events<\/a> from 1 January 2023, as RFE\/RL reported. In September 2025 it sent a delegation to Intervision in Moscow, where the Nomad trio finished second, <a href=\"https:\/\/akipress.com\/news:828361\">per AKIpress<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile <a href=\"https:\/\/datareportal.com\/reports\/digital-2026-kyrgyzstan\">DataReportal&#8217;s Digital 2026 report<\/a> counts 6.48 million internet users in Kyrgyzstan at the end of 2025, an 88.5 percent penetration rate, and 3.90 million social media identities in October 2025. The audience is online. The rights plumbing is not.<\/p>\n<h2>What a Bishkek producer should set up first<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Own the ISRC.<\/strong> ISRC means International Standard Recording Code, the per-recording identifier that decides who gets paid. Remix and beat-lease uploads lose it constantly.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Register the composition separately.<\/strong> Streaming pays a recording royalty and a publishing royalty. The 2002 rate card does not touch the second one on foreign platforms.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Set splits before release.<\/strong> Slowed and remix catalogues are collaborative by nature, which is exactly how phonk money goes missing, as we traced through <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/brazilian-phonk-money-splits-problem-montagem-argentina-400-million-spotify\/\">Brazilian phonk and Argentine montagem<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cover the CIS platforms.<\/strong> Yandex Music, VK Music and Zvuk carry real Kyrgyz listening, and majors-focused distributors often skip them.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Claim on YouTube.<\/strong> Phonk is among the most re-uploaded genres there, and unclaimed re-uploads are pure leakage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Why this matters for distribution<\/h2>\n<p>The Kyrgyz case is the Central Asian case. Kazakhstan <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/kazakhstan-changed-royalty-rules-twice-two-days-q-pop-publishing-money-state-platform\/\">routed Q-pop publishing money through a state platform<\/a>. Uzbekistan <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/uzbekistan-licenses-1100-singers-most-streamed-artist-pianist-signed-decca\/\">accredits its singers<\/a>. Neither move puts a som in a producer&#8217;s account from a 142 million stream instrumental.<\/p>\n<p>That income arrives through DDEX-delivered releases, clean splits and per-territory reporting. DDEX means Digital Data Exchange, the metadata standard streaming services use to ingest releases.
