They also allege the companies used data scraping software to bypass security measures and copyright protections in violation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.<\/p>\n<h2>Alleged infringement and damages<\/h2>\n<p>Round Hill submitted a list of 500 songs the defendants allegedly infringed, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cIris\u201d by the Goo Goo Dolls<\/li>\n<li>\u201cTotal Eclipse of the Heart\u201d by Bonnie Tyler, written by Jim Steinman<\/li>\n<li>\u201cI Got You (I Feel Good)\u201d by James Brown<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The publisher said it plans to amend the list to potentially ten thousand or more musical compositions, with damages potentially exceeding <strong>$1 billion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Catalog and existing legal exposure<\/h2>\n<p>Round Hill manages more than 150 catalogs and over 200,000 songs. Its catalog includes works performed by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>George Harrison<\/li>\n<li>Elvis Presley<\/li>\n<li>Bruno Mars<\/li>\n<li>Chaka Khan<\/li>\n<li>Morgan Wallen<\/li>\n<li>Madonna<\/li>\n<li>Black Sabbath<\/li>\n<li>The Killers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/suno.com\">Suno<\/a><\/strong> is currently facing a separate copyright suit from <strong>Universal Music Group<\/strong> and <strong>Sony Music Group<\/strong>. It settled with <strong>Warner Music Group<\/strong> late last year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Anthropic<\/strong> faces suits from <strong>Universal Music Publishing<\/strong>, <strong>Abcko<\/strong>, <strong>Concord<\/strong> and <strong>BMG<\/strong> over alleged unauthorized use of song lyrics to train its AI agent, <strong>Claude<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Round Hill\u2019s position<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Josh Gruss<\/strong>, CEO and founder of Round Hill Music, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe are not against artificial intelligence. We are against the idea that you can build a business worth billions on top of other people&#8217;s creative work and pay the creators nothing. <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/suno-signs-global-licensing-deal-with-bmg-for-ai-music-model\/\">Licensing<\/a> isn&#8217;t an obstacle to innovation \u2013 it is there to protect the legal owners of the raw material, their property. As an independent music company, we have the freedom and obligation to say that plainly and to act on it. We intend to take these cases to trial and to hold these companies accountable, and we will not accept a resolution that leaves songwriters and artists deprived of their rightful share of
