The letter, coordinated by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/earthpercent.org\">EarthPercent<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/upliftuk.org\">Uplift<\/a><\/strong>, lands as the government weighs approval of the project.<\/p>\n<p>Signatories include <strong>Massive Attack<\/strong>, three members of <strong>Radiohead<\/strong>, <strong>The Cure<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Robert Smith<\/strong>, <strong>Imogen Heap<\/strong> and EarthPercent founder <strong>Brian Eno<\/strong>. The oil and gas industry has lobbied for approval of Rosebank.<\/p>\n<h2>Artists link touring to climate stability<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAs artists, we have become starkly aware of the fact that our livelihoods often depend upon the reliability of safe weather conditions and stable energy costs for live events,\u201d the letter states. \u201cThe widespread disruption of music events across Europe and Wembley\u2019s rule-changes for <strong>Harry Styles<\/strong>\u2019 shows could be just the beginning. Our continued dependence on oil and gas has strengthened heatwaves and made us vulnerable to volatile energy costs, but it is a dependence that we can end.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Emissions warning and treaty pledge<\/h2>\n<p>The letter says Rosebank\u2019s climate pollution would be equivalent to almost 70 percent of UK annual emissions if approved.
