{"id":20100,"date":"2026-09-10T14:19:17","date_gmt":"2026-09-10T14:19:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/niva-launches-live-independent-tour-certification\/"},"modified":"2026-09-20T19:10:45","modified_gmt":"2026-09-20T19:10:45","slug":"niva-launches-live-independent-tour-certification","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/niva-launches-live-independent-tour-certification\/","title":{"rendered":"NIVA Launches Live Independent Tour Certification"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nivassoc.org\/\">National Independent Venue Association (NIVA)<\/a><\/strong> has introduced a <strong>Live Independent Tour certification<\/strong> for independent U.S. venues, promoters and festivals. <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/spanish-love-songs-lead-nivas-first-live-independent-tour\/\"><strong>Spanish Love Songs<\/strong><\/a>, a Los Angeles indie rock quintet, is the first act to book a tour under the new designation.<\/p>\n<p>The band\u2019s 19-city album release tour, booked by <strong>The\u2022Team<\/strong>, will play exclusively at independent venues.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cOur band was born and grew in independent rooms willing to take a chance on us,\u201d said frontman <strong>Dylan Slocum<\/strong> of Spanish Love Songs. \u201cWe\u2019re proud to partner with NIVA, the venues, and promoters to put people over profit and work directly with the bands, crew, and fans that keep independent music thriving.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2>Certification builds on existing partnerships<\/h2>\n<p>The certification builds on NIVA\u2019s partnership with <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/spotify-launches-fresh-finds-forward-for-independent-artists\/\"><strong>Spotify<\/strong><\/a>, which includes monthly playlist features, and the <strong>Live Independent seal<\/strong> launched with <strong>Bandsintown<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>More than 55 million fans have discovered shows and bought tickets at independent venues and festivals through Live Independent promotion on the <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/niva-bandsintown-live-pulse-survey-finds-softening-advance-ticket-demand\/\">Bandsintown<\/a> platform.<\/p>\n<h2>Pay It Forward fund for touring crews<\/h2>\n<p>The <strong>Music Industry Therapist Collective (MITC)<\/strong> has launched a <strong>$367,000 Pay It Forward fund<\/strong> to provide occupational health support to smaller live tours.<\/p>\n<p>Backers include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Radiohead\u2019s Philip Selway<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>AEG<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>d&amp;b audiotechnik<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Fly By Nite<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Live Free 999<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.livenationentertainment.com\/\">Live Nation<\/a><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Lockton<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Team<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Universal Pixels<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The fund will provide free access to occupational health support for 150 small and mid-scale tours over the next three years. It is available globally, with services in English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Norwegian and Hindi. Applications are open.<\/p>\n<h2>Ticketmaster adds Muse AI integration<\/h2>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ticketmaster.com\/\">Ticketmaster<\/a><\/strong> announced an integration with <strong>Muse<\/strong>, <strong>Meta<\/strong>\u2019s new personalized AI (artificial intelligence) agent. Available now in the U.S. via web, iOS and Android, Muse lets people create their own personalized AI agents.<\/p>\n<p>Fans can discover Ticketmaster ticketed concerts, sports and live shows through conversations with their Muse agent, which can also make suggestions. Purchases are completed on Ticketmaster\u2019s marketplace, with fans controlling the transaction.<\/p>\n<p>Ticketmaster also has integrations with <strong>Gemini<\/strong>, <strong>Google AI Mode<\/strong>, <strong>ChatGPT<\/strong>, <strong>Claude<\/strong> and <strong>Amazon Alexa+<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Venue expansion and grassroots pressures<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Portland, Oregon<\/strong>, is set to add two mid-sized concert venues. <strong>Live Nation<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Steelhead<\/strong> will bring a 3,500-capacity room to Portland\u2019s Central Eastside. <strong>AEG Presents<\/strong> and local promoter <strong>Monqui Presents<\/strong> are developing a flexible 2,000-to-4,250-capacity venue at the former Nordstrom site in the Lloyd Center.<\/p>\n<p>In Australia, grassroots venues are facing issues securing leases and self-ownership, similar to venues in the U.S., Canada and the U.K., as operators work to protect the buildings
