It is focusing on two areas of unauthorized use.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/us-house-bill-targets-foreign-piracy-site-blocking\/\">Data piracy<\/a>:<\/strong> the unauthorized use of sound effects and other audio to train AI systems.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sync piracy:<\/strong> the use of sound effects in movies, TV, video games, and other media without permission.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Founding figures<\/h2>\n<p>Among those involved are <strong>Douglas Price<\/strong>, founder and CEO of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prosoundeffects.com\">Pro Sound Effects<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong>Karl Urban<\/strong>, an Emmy-nominated re-recording mixer and former president of the Cinema Audio Society.<\/p>\n<h2>Statements<\/h2>\n<p>Price said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cIt\u2019s time professional sound received the same respect and protection every other audio field has earned, for the lifetimes of work our industry has collectively built. If you\u2019ve helped to shape this craft, add your name and stand with us.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In a separate statement, Mangini said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cSound effects are not a commodity. They are the product of human expertise, human experience, and human artistry.
