The release itself is routine New Music Friday business. What is worth a closer look is what it confirms about Asake’s position in the Nigerian industry right now: he is not just an artist with his own catalogue, he has become the feature every label wants on a single when it needs to travel.<\/p>\n

A second installment, not a one-off<\/h2>\n

“Chanel,” Blaqbonez and Asake’s earlier collaboration, landed at a moment when Blaqbonez was in a public feud with another artist and needed a record that could cut through, according to NotJustOk’s coverage of the new single.
