His remit also includes helping define its approach to emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>The role includes preparing the organization to meet the future needs of creators and rights owners as technology changes how music is created, distributed and monetized.<\/p>\n<h2>Publishing, rights and recorded music experience<\/h2>\n<p>Shaver brings <strong>more than three decades<\/strong> of experience spanning music publishing, recorded music, rights administration, data services and technology.<\/p>\n<p>He joins from the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/soundexchange-sells-cmrra-to-socan-consolidating-canadian-music-rights\/\">Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency (CMRRA)<\/a><\/strong>, where he served as President of both CMRRA and <strong>SX Works<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>During his tenure, CMRRA increased royalty distributions to clients, grew its global publisher affiliations and extended its international reach through SX Works.<\/p>\n<p>His work also included expanding global client relationships and strengthening data and administration capabilities for music publishers and songwriters.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining CMRRA, Shaver held senior leadership positions at:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Nielsen Entertainment<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Universal Music Group<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>EMI\/Capitol Music<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Virgin Records<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>He has also held industry leadership roles with the <strong>Canadian Country Music Association<\/strong> and the <strong>Canadian Private Copying Collective<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>SoundExchange\u2019s royalty operations<\/h2>\n<p>SoundExchange is the world\u2019s largest neighboring rights organization. It has collected and distributed <strong>more than $13 billion<\/strong> in <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/soundexchange-featured-artist-45-percent-unclaimed-royalties-three-years\/\">digital performance royalties<\/a> for <strong>more than 800,000 music creators<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>It is the sole organization designated by the U.S. government to administer the <strong>Section 114 sound recording license<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>SoundExchange collects and
