{"id":21929,"date":"2026-10-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2026-10-15T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/?p=21929"},"modified":"2026-10-16T02:42:50","modified_gmt":"2026-10-16T02:42:50","slug":"pipeline-names-former-hipgnosis-executive-ben-katovsky-ceo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/pipeline-names-former-hipgnosis-executive-ben-katovsky-ceo\/","title":{"rendered":"Pipeline Names Former Hipgnosis Executive Ben Katovsky CEO"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/spencer-leboff-appointed-head-of-revenue-at-pipeline\/\">Pipeline<\/a><\/strong> has named <strong>Ben Katovsky<\/strong> chief executive officer (CEO), bringing an executive with more than two decades of music-rights experience to the financing platform for music and creative businesses.<\/p>\n<p>The appointment follows Pipeline\u2019s January 2026 launch with <strong>US$200 million<\/strong> in backing through <strong>Jamen Capital<\/strong>, the investment firm of Pipeline co-founder and chairman <strong>Matt Spetzler<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2>Katovsky\u2019s music-rights career<\/h2>\n<p>Katovsky most recently served as CEO of <strong>Recognition Music Group<\/strong>. He joined <strong>Hipgnosis Song Management<\/strong> as president and chief operating officer (COO) in 2022 and became CEO in 2024.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Blackstone<\/strong> brought its Hipgnosis assets together under the Recognition brand in March 2025. Before joining Hipgnosis, Katovsky spent seven years at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bmg.com\/\">BMG<\/a><\/strong>, where he rose to chief operating officer.<\/p>\n<p>Katovsky and Spetzler have worked together before: Recognition named Spetzler chairman of its Senior Advisory Group in May 2025.<\/p>\n<h2>Pipeline\u2019s financing focus<\/h2>\n<p>Pipeline seeks to provide music companies, rights holders and creators with capital, investment expertise and technology typically available to the industry\u2019s largest businesses.<\/p>\n<p>Since its launch, it has partnered with independent licensing body <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/merlinnetwork.org\/\">Merlin<\/a><\/strong> to provide members with advances against digital royalties.<\/p>\n<p>Spetzler said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cWe started Pipeline because there is enormous value in music IP, and too many of the companies that own it haven\u2019t had the backing to realize their ambitions. Ben is one of very few people who has built, financed, and run a world-class rights business at scale, delivering very strong outcomes for investors while caring for the music and the people behind it.
