Under <a href=\"https:\/\/acinpro.org.co\/docs\/estatutos-reglamentos\/Regl-acred-distrib.pdf\">ACINPRO&#8217;s distribution rulebook<\/a>, the amount approved for distribution is divided equally between phonogram producers and performers. Half of the performers&#8217; portion is then allocated by membership status, not individual plays.<\/p>\n<p>That makes the useful question for an independent label more precise than \u201cDid the track get airplay?\u201d It is: were the recording, performers and producer correctly accredited before the relevant distribution closed?<\/p>\n<h2>The 100-peso test<\/h2>\n<p>ACINPRO means the Colombian Association of Performers and Phonogram Producers. It manages neighbouring rights, the recording-side remuneration from public communication of recorded music. Colombia&#8217;s writers and composers have a separate society, SAYCO; the distinction matters because <a href=\"https:\/\/interspacemusic.com\/blog\/colombia-sayco-2025-collection-9966-registered-rightsholders\/\">registering a composition with SAYCO<\/a> does not document the master or its performers with ACINPRO.<\/p>\n<p>Imagine 100 pesos already approved for distribution after the applicable deductions. <a href=\"https:\/\/acinpro.org.co\/docs\/estatutos-reglamentos\/Regl-acred-distrib.pdf\">ACINPRO&#8217;s rules<\/a> send 50 pesos to the producer side and 50 to the performer side. Of those 50 performer pesos, 25 go to the affiliation benefit for qualifying members and 25 to the incentive benefit tied to documented public use. This is a model of the allocation rule, not a promise that any particular recording earns 100 pesos.<\/p>\n<p>The producer half is entirely usage based. For each source, ACINPRO divides the money allocated to that source by the valid plays in its sample, then multiplies that value by a recording&#8217;s appearances. A play must be in a user report or monitoring sample, the recording must be properly accredited, and the user must have paid. <a href=\"https:\/\/acinpro.org.co\/preguntas-frecuentes\/\">ACINPRO spells out those three conditions<\/a> for a \u201creal and effective\u201d play.<\/p>\n<h2>Two payout clocks, one recording<\/h2>\n<p>Performers are paid twice a year: the January\u2013June period is scheduled for payment by the first week of August, and July\u2013December by the first week of the following February. Producers receive three distributions, covering January\u2013April, May\u2013August and September\u2013December, with payments scheduled for June, October and February respectively. These are <a href=\"https:\/\/acinpro.org.co\/preguntas-frecuentes\/\">ACINPRO&#8217;s published schedules<\/a>, so a label and a featured performer should not expect identical statement dates.<\/p>\n<p>ACINPRO also sets cutoffs for accreditation, counterclaims and bank-detail changes. An indie team should keep a ledger with the recording identifier, producer owner, performer credits, date of accreditation, and expected payout period. ISRC means International Standard Recording Code; <a href=\"https:\/\/isrc.ifpi.org\/why-use-isrc\/when-not-to-assign\">IFPI explains that it identifies the recording<\/a>, not the underlying composition. The identifier helps reconcile a master across delivery and claims, but does not itself establish ownership.<\/p>\n<h2>Where duplicate claims stop the money<\/h2>\n<p>ACINPRO defines a digital counterclaim as two producers accrediting recordings with the same audio fingerprint, even when titles or artist names differ. Its <a href=\"https:\/\/acinpro.org.co\/docs\/estatutos-reglamentos\/Regl-acred-distrib.pdf\">rulebook<\/a> allows one month after the first notice for direct settlement. After a second notice, producers have two months to submit ownership evidence, including a Colombian registration, cover credit, platform metadata or the relevant transfer contract.<\/p>\n<p>If neither side documents title, ACINPRO keeps the disputed money in custody. If both document it but still disagree, payment remains held until they settle directly or through a legal process. A clean DSP upload therefore cannot cure a conflicting rights claim. The practical audit is to compare the producer named in the distributor&#8217;s metadata with the entity named in ACINPRO&#8217;s accreditation and the signed master agreement.<\/p>\n<h2>What to do before the next cycle<\/h2>\n<p>Ask each performer to confirm their recorded role and preserve credits or participation evidence. ACINPRO requires performers to submit an accreditation form, proof of participation and audio; producers must identify their recordings and be able to substantiate title. Make those files part of delivery, alongside the royalty splits visible in your distributor&#8217;s reporting.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latingrammy.com\/en\/news\/the-latin-recording-academy-announces-new-eligibility-guidelines-for-the-27th-annual-latin-grammy-awards-set-to-take-place-on-nov-12\/\">Latin Grammys on 12 November<\/a> may bring catalogues back into circulation. The durable task is the same in every season: prove who owns the recording and who performed on it before a play needs matching.
