Korean streaming song royalties take at least five months from the start of service, according to KOMCA.<\/a> An independent team cannot use that payment to decide whether to adjust a launch campaign this week. It needs an earlier reading of audience response and a separate check that the song can be paid when collection catches up.<\/p>\n

Set two decision dates<\/h2>\n

Chartmetric and Base for Music\u2019s release playbook uses audience data to plan, measure and adjust campaigns.<\/a> That creates a practical first decision: after a release reaches listeners, compare the response with the audience the campaign intended to reach. A second decision comes later, when rights income can be reconciled with the release. The two decisions answer different questions. Listening helps a team judge whether its campaign found an audience; a royalty payment shows what the relevant rights and collection processes ultimately produced.<\/p>\n

Put both decisions in the release plan. Record which audience the campaign targets, what listening response would justify continued work, and when the team will review that response. Keep a separate date for checking the composition claim and subsequent payment. Processing cycles and work registrations affect when a particular song pays<\/a>, so a missing early payment cannot by itself diagnose a failed campaign.<\/p>\n

This sequence also prevents a budget error. If a team treats delayed collection as weak demand, it may stop a campaign that listeners are responding to. If it treats audience reach as earned income, it may commit money before it knows what the rights record will return. The first review governs the next marketing action. The later review governs the cash record and any unresolved claim.<\/p>\n

Follow the response past reach<\/h2>\n

A placement or a growing audience figure is a starting observation, not the end of the measurement chain. Playlist reach needs to be tested against listening and rights income.<\/a> For a current campaign decision, start with the listening step: did the exposure coincide with a response that warrants more work on this release? For the catalogue record, return to the income step when payment information arrives.<\/p>\n

That observation is a reason to examine a campaign\u2019s own results, not a basis for assigning a revenue value to a playlist follower.
