The Chinese company will reportedly hold only one seat on a seven-member board but will be excluded from the security committee and will not be eligible to serve as board chairman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump revealed in an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/video\/6379895309112\">interview<\/a>&nbsp;with&nbsp;<em>Fox News,&nbsp;<\/em>which aired on Sunday, that media mogul&nbsp;<strong>Rupert<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Murdoch<\/strong>, head of&nbsp;<strong>Fox<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>News<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong>News<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Corp<\/strong>, and&nbsp;<strong>Dell<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Technologies<\/strong>&nbsp;CEO and founder&nbsp;<strong>Michael<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Dell<\/strong>&nbsp;could be part of the joint venture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump told&nbsp;<em>Fox News\u2019 The Sunday Briefing:&nbsp;<\/em>\u201cI think they\u2019re going to be in the group. A couple of others. Really great people, very prominent people\u2026 And they\u2019re also American patriots, you know, they love this country. I think they\u2019re going to do a really good job.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The president also noted that Oracle founder and Chairman&nbsp;<strong>Larry<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Ellison<\/strong>&nbsp;is also joining the deal.&nbsp;<em>Bloomberg&nbsp;<\/em>previously reported that Oracle is among the investors in a consortium that includes venture capital firms&nbsp;<strong>Andreessen Horowitz&nbsp;<\/strong>and<strong>&nbsp;Silver Lake Management.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The algorithm arrangement addresses one of the most crucial aspects of any TikTok sale. US law bans ByteDance from maintaining control over the recommendation software that determines what videos users see, while Republicans and Democrats have argued that China could pressure ByteDance into sharing user data and using that data to spread Chinese propaganda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The approach builds on Oracle\u2019s existing relationship with TikTok through&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.lawfaremedia.org\/article\/what-happened-to-tiktok-s-project-texas\"><strong>Project<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Texas<\/strong><\/a>, a multibillion-dollar partnership to store US user data at home. Representative&nbsp;<strong>John<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Moolenaar<\/strong>, the Republican chairman of the House Select Committee on China,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/republican-lawmaker-raises-concerns-about-tiktok-divestiture-deal-2025-09-17\/\">said<\/a>&nbsp;last week that he remained concerned it \u201cmay involve ongoing reliance by the new TikTok on a ByteDance algorithm and application that could allow continued CCP control or influence.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The success of a TikTok deal depends on approvals from both US and Chinese governments. On Friday (September 20), Trump expressed confidence after speaking with&nbsp;<strong>Chinese<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>President<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Xi Jinping<\/strong>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/china\/trump-xi-seek-tiktok-win-break-us-china-gridlock-2025-09-19\/\">telling reporters<\/a>: \u201cHe approved the TikTok deal\u2026 The TikTok deal is well on its way.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, China\u2019s statement on the matter did not mention a formal agreement on TikTok.&nbsp;<strong>China\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;<strong>Ministry of Foreign Affairs&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fmprc.gov.cn\/eng\/xw\/zyxw\/202509\/t20250919_11712169.html\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;on Thursday (September 19) in Beijing: \u201cChina\u2019s position on the TikTok issue is clear: The Chinese government respects\u2002the wishes of the company in question, and would be happy to see productive commercial negotiations in keeping with market rules lead to\u2002a solution that complies with China\u2019s laws and regulations and takes into account the interests of both sides.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cChina\u2019s position on the TikTok issue is clear: The Chinese government respects\u2002the wishes of the company in question, and would be happy to see productive commercial negotiations\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>China\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Added the ministry: \u201cThe US side needs to\u2002provide an open, fair and non-discriminatory environment for Chinese investors\u2026 The U.S. will work with China on the economy and trade, and support their teams in reaching a proper deal on TikTok through consultation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Monday,<strong>&nbsp;White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-tiktok-china-d5d8a1d56b5185778536874d7fc1ee62\">said<\/a>: \u201cTikTok users in the US will be able to see videos posted by users in other countries and vice versa.\u201d Leavitt previously&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/edition.cnn.com\/2025\/09\/22\/tech\/tiktok-sale-oracle-algorithm\">said<\/a>&nbsp;on Saturday that \u201cWe are<strong>&nbsp;100%&nbsp;<\/strong>confident that a deal is done,\u201d adding that a deal would likely be signed \u201cin the coming
