The process yielded an estimated 280,000 new t-shirts and hoodies made entirely from recycled cotton, ready for artists to customize and sell on the road.<\/p>\n<h2>Environmental Footprint<\/h2>\n<p>Tour merchandise has often been overlooked in sustainability conversations that focus on transportation, energy, and plastics. Yet cotton farming and textile production consume significant water and energy, and unsold apparel frequently ends up in landfills. Upcycling leftover stock into new blanks offers a circular model that addresses both material waste and the financial losses artists incur when inventory goes unsold.<\/p>\n<h2>Artist-Driven Innovation<\/h2>\n<p>The project was catalyzed in part by environmental activist <strong>Maggie Baird<\/strong>, mother of <strong>Billie Eilish<\/strong>, working alongside Universal Music Group&#8217;s sustainability team.
