While the Power Ranking identifies who is dominant, the Rising Artist Ranking aims to reveal who is gaining speed most rapidly, often before they break into the top tier.<\/p>\n<h2>Momentum vs. Dominance<\/h2>\n<p>In March 2026, <strong>Mavo<\/strong> reached No. 1 on the Afrobeats Power Ranking. Two months earlier, in January, he had been ranked 14th. That sharp ascent, from mid-table to the summit in under sixty days, highlighted a gap: the Power Ranking captured the result, but not the climb itself.<\/p>\n<p>Dominance and acceleration are distinct signals. A veteran artist with a deep catalogue can sustain high raw streaming numbers month after month, while a newcomer&#8217;s surge may go unnoticed until they have already arrived. The Rising Artist Ranking is designed to detect that surge while it is still building.<\/p>\n<h2>How the Ranking Works<\/h2>\n<p>The methodology compares each eligible artist&#8217;s Power Ranking score from the current month to their score from the previous month, calculating the percentage increase.
