A Melbourne live music venue is offering sharply discounted beer to fans who arrive in time for the opening act, a small-scale initiative that reflects a wider push across Australia’s music industry to strengthen the early stages of the live circuit.<\/p>\n

Venue Ties Drink Prices to Punctuality<\/h2>\n

Shotkickers<\/strong>, a 200-capacity venue in Melbourne, has launched a program called “Support the Supports.” In partnership with local brewery Tallboy and Moose<\/strong>, the venue is selling $4 pots and $8 pints from the moment doors open until the end of the first artist’s set.<\/p>\n

BIGSOUND<\/a> Expands Artist Support<\/h2>\n

BIGSOUND<\/a> has unveiled a significantly expanded artist-support package for its 2026 showcase program. For the first time, every act selected for the BIGSOUND 100<\/strong> will receive a travel contribution. Artists will also gain an extra conference pass and greater access to conference sessions.<\/p>\n

A new Oztix<\/strong>-powered “Stage Drive” system will let audiences scan QR codes and send money directly to performers they discover. The package acknowledges that in a country as large as Australia, flights, accommodation, and equipment costs can turn a showcase opportunity into a financial gamble.<\/p>\n

All 100 showcasing acts will benefit from the expanded support when the event returns to Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from September 1\u20134, 2026<\/strong>. The program also includes a $20,000 prize<\/strong> for one of five artists performing at the Up x Monster Children Showcase, intended to fund touring, recording, or the winner’s next career step.<\/p>\n

That artist will not merely open a hometown show; they will join a nationally recognised bill, perform before a large regional audience, and receive exposure through triple j’s live broadcast. Tickets cost $15<\/strong> plus booking fees, keeping the all-ages, alcohol-free event accessible while bringing a major Australian lineup to a community outside the usual touring capitals.<\/p>\n
