Soca’s business case used to be brutal and simple. You released in January, lived or died on Trinidad Carnival in February, and watched your streams flatline by April.<\/p>\n

The 2025 and 2026 numbers no longer look like that.<\/p>\n

The song that broke the February rule<\/h2>\n

Yung Bredda’s “The Greatest Bend Over,” produced by Full Blown Entertainment, topped Soca Records’ Year-End Top 25<\/a> with roughly 14 million Spotify streams in its first year and about 37,000 streams a day.<\/p>\n

It was released in late December 2024. Four months later it held No. 1 on Apple Music in Trinidad and Tobago for 52 consecutive days<\/a>. Most soca tracks hold that spot for one to three days.<\/p>\n

The export map is the part most distributors get wrong. The same record went No. 1 on Apple Music in Fiji for six weeks and in Papua New Guinea for over a month, reached No. 3 on the iTunes Top 100 in Botswana, and charted on Kenya’s Apple Music Reggae chart.<\/p>\n

None of that is Caribbean diaspora. That is Pacific and East African listeners finding a Trinidadian record through algorithmic reggae and dancehall shelves.<\/p>\n

Klassik Frescobar’s “Dansa” finished second with roughly 10 million projected Spotify streams and chart presence in 120 countries. Kes took third and fifth with “Cocoa Tea” and “No Sweetness.”<\/p>\n

August is soca’s second season now<\/h2>\n

Read the carnival calendar instead of the release calendar. The TriniTravels 2026-27 carnival tracker<\/a> lists 11 carnivals in August 2026, more than any month outside February, which carries 18 in 2027.<\/p>\n

Toronto’s Caribbean Carnival grand parade ran on 1 August. Notting Hill Carnival<\/a> takes London on 30 and 31 August, with Panorama on the 29th. Miami follows in October.<\/p>\n

Caribbean E Magazine’s July 2026 soca chart<\/a> put Voice’s “Cyah Behave” at No. 1 for a second straight month, with three new entries inside the top five. Its editors called the post-Carnival stretch “a new chapter,” noting records now hold relevance far longer than the genre historically allowed.<\/p>\n

The math on a million streams<\/h2>\n

Soca Records puts the average time for a soca song to reach one million Spotify streams at 18 to 24 months<\/a>, which needs roughly 3,000 plays a day sustained.<\/p>\n

It also found the milestone is heavily concentrated. Machel Montano accounts for close to 30 percent of all soca tracks past a million Spotify streams. Bunji Garlin adds another 10 percent. Precision Productions, as a production house, sits near 10 percent again.<\/p>\n

That concentration is a distribution problem as much as an A&R one. Soca catalogues are singles-led, feature-heavy and riddim-based, which means splits, and splits are where money quietly stalls.<\/p>\n

Where soca money leaks<\/h2>\n

DSP means Digital Service Provider, the streaming platforms themselves. Four gaps sit between them and the artist:<\/p>\n
