Abu Dhabi to Host Sphere Venue
A Sphere entertainment venue will be constructed on Yas Island, marking the first location outside of the United States for the concept. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) will fund the project with a $1.7 billion investment.
Construction is anticipated to conclude by the end of 2029. The venue will be situated on land between Yas Mall and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi.
Planned events include immersive productions termed Sphere Experiences, concert residencies, and events encompassing combat sports, conferences, and product launches. The venue’s capacity will be approximately 20,000, adjusted to suit specific event setups.
James Dolan, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sphere Entertainment, stated: “Sphere Abu Dhabi is the first step in realizing our vision for a global network of venues. Abu Dhabi is a premier international capital city, and we look forward to working with DCT Abu Dhabi to see this venue come to life.”
