South African gospel artist and pastor Bishop Benjamin Dube has entered into a catalogue management and distribution agreement with Sony Music Entertainment Africa, a move announced alongside the 20th anniversary of his In His Presence music ministry.
The deal, struck through Dube’s company Dube Connection, will see Sony handle the distribution of his recorded catalogue and collaborate on initiatives to broaden his audience across Africa and internationally.
Partnership Details
Dube, whose career spans several decades, is widely recognised in South African gospel music. The new arrangement aims to amplify his existing body of work while creating pathways to new listeners.
Executive Perspectives
“Partnering with Sony again is very sentimental for me. This time, it’s bigger and better, and I’m looking forward to breaking new ground as we step into this next chapter,” Dube said.
Katlego Malatji, director of Southern African repertoire at Sony Music Entertainment Africa, described the partnership as tailored to Dube’s journey.
“The partnership is tailored to the Bishop’s journey, understanding where he comes from and where he’s trying to go,” Malatji said. “I am putting a challenge on the record label to earn its right to work with the Bishop, and I think that is a fair place to be. My hope is that one year from now, the Bishop will report back so that more gospel artists can get an understanding of the potential fruits of relationships of this nature; where artists have a lot to bring to the table, and equally, we as record labels have a role to play, so we get the synergies correct.”
Upcoming Performances and New Music
Dube is preparing for a series of live performances in Tanzania, Uganda and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He also expects to release new music during the second half of 2026.
Two Decades of In His Presence
“Celebrating 20 Years of In His Presence is a humbling experience for me. It speaks to the redemption of my purpose in life, which is to usher in God’s Kingdom on Earth through my music ministry,” Dube said.
Since its launch, In His Presence has grown into a prominent gospel platform in South Africa, showcasing and nurturing numerous artists within the genre.
