The Cape Maclear International Film Festival (CMIFF) has issued an open call for creatives worldwide to participate in its third edition, scheduled for 15 to 17 October 2026 in Cape Maclear, Mangochi, Malawi.
The festival will present a programme of films from Malawi and abroad, complemented by music, cultural activities and live performances. Organisers describe the event as a platform for local and international filmmakers to connect, foster cultural exchange, and promote Malawian culture, tourism and cinema to broader audiences.
Edward Longwe, CMIFF team lead, said the festival aims to provide a space where artists can share their work and engage with new communities. Applications are now being accepted from creatives across multiple disciplines to perform during the gathering. The call is open to applicants from all countries, and forms can be accessed via the festival’s official creative applications channel.
Founded as an annual celebration of film, music and culture on the shores of Lake Malawi, CMIFF is now in its third year. The 2026 edition will be held as a standalone event following its separation from the UMP Festival earlier this year.
