The xx have shared live footage of their performance of ‘Intro’ at Primavera Sound 2026, capturing a key moment in the band’s return to the stage after an eight-year hiatus.

The UK trio headlined the Barcelona edition of the festival on 6 June at Parc del Fòrum, and later performed at the Porto edition on 11 June. The track, which opens their 2009 self-titled debut album, remains a staple of their live sets.

The band marked the “start of the next chapter together” with their first live show since 2018 in Mexico City in April, followed by a main stage set at Coachella later that month. That performance included a medley of solo tracks: Romy’s ‘Enjoy Your Life’, Oliver Sim’s ‘GMT’, and Jamie xx’s ‘Wanna’ and ‘Treat Each Other Right’.

Last year, the group released a digital deluxe edition of their debut album with bonus tracks and covers, and confirmed they have been “in the studio” working on a new album after reports of new material first circulated in January 2024.

The festival’s first full day of programming was heavily disrupted by severe weather, forcing the last-minute cancellation of sets by Massive Attack, Doja Cat, Bad Gyal and others.
