Sony Music Publishing has acquired Monty Norman Limited, the corporate entity tied to the late composer who created the iconic James Bond Theme.
The transaction was disclosed through a confirmation statement filed with the UK’s Companies House. The filing shows that Sony Music Publishing (UK) Limited now holds all 100 shares of the company.
Financial terms of the deal and the specific assets held by Monty Norman Limited were not specified in the filing.
Norman, who died in 2022, composed the James Bond Theme for the 1962 film Dr. No. The piece has since appeared in every official Bond film and in James Bond video games. His other credits include West End musicals such as Irma La Douce, Expresso Bongo, and Make Me An Offer, and he wrote songs for artists including Cliff Richard and Tommy Steele.
