Spotify is rolling out Playlist Notes, a feature that lets playlist editors explain their song selections and gives listeners a way to annotate tracks, audiobooks, and podcast episodes.
Major Spotify playlists are often used by artists to reach larger audiences, and greater insight into curation methodology can play a role in how artists operate.
A new “Notes” button will appear at the top of playlists. Selecting it opens the editor’s profile and their commentary on the playlist.
Users can then view the editor’s personal information, including favorite music and the playlists they manage.
Availability
Free and Premium subscribers aged 16 and older in the U.S., Canada, the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand will begin seeing Playlist Notes soon.
The feature is rolling out on iOS and Android in more than 100 markets. It will also be available on user-curated playlists through the Spotify mobile app.
