Marshall has launched The Dead Venue Sessions, a limited film series that places bands back inside three former music venues that no longer operate as performance spaces.
The series revisits China Chalet in New York, Stalag 13 in Philadelphia and London Fog in Los Angeles. Those rooms have since been converted into a food court and arcade, a bodybuilding gym and a barber shop.
The first six-minute episode was released today. It follows Bronx Dominican punk band Planta Industrial into the former China Chalet space for the debut of the single “MIA.” Filmmaker and photographer Cheryl Dunn directed the series, which was created by Marshall with agency Anomaly.
Former venues in the series
- China Chalet, New York: now a food court and arcade
- Stalag 13, Philadelphia: now a bodybuilding gym
- London Fog, Los Angeles: now a barber shop
Marshall’s Amplify membership program directs 1% of qualifying online purchases toward grassroots music spaces, funding backline equipment, shows and longer-term partnerships.
