Mötley Crüe’s “Kickstart My Heart” has exceeded one billion streams on Spotify, entering its Billions Club more than three decades after the song’s release.

Other rock artists in the club include Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin.

The song remains part of the band’s live repertoire. Its use in film, television, advertising, gaming and digital platforms has also brought it to new audiences worldwide.

“It’s truly an honor to be standing with such amazing artists. Thanks to all the fans, BMG, and Spotify.”

The band’s members issued the comment in a joint statement.

New catalog certifications

Mötley Crüe recently received new certifications from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) covering more than 9.5 million units.

  • “Kickstart My Heart” reached 2x Platinum.
  • The Dr. Feelgood album rose from 6x Platinum to 9x Platinum.
  • “Dr. Feelgood,” “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Home Sweet Home” received Platinum certifications.
  • “Wild Side,” “Shout At The Devil,” “Looks That Kill” and “Live Wire” received Gold certifications.

BMG took over the catalog in 2022. The updated certification levels reflect consumption during the period since then.

Michael Kachko, BMG’s senior vice president, Global Catalog Recorded, Hard Rock, said:

“One billion streams for ‘Kickstart My Heart,’ alongside an epic run of new RIAA certifications, is a testament to the enduring power of Mötley Crüe’s music. Decades later, this catalog continues to reach new fans and achieve new milestones, and we’re incredibly proud to help carry that legacy forward.”

45th anniversary release

The band is also marking its 45th anniversary with a limited edition of Too Fast For Love, its 1981 debut album. The recently announced release is scheduled for October 30 through BMG.

The album’s original Leathür Records version will become available on streaming services for the first time.

Mötley Crüe has also completed its summer amphitheater tour, The Return Of The Carnival Of Sins Tour, its first full tour in three years.
