Indie Music Rights (IMR) has joined the Friend of IMPALA business affiliate programme through an initial two-year agreement, seeking closer ties with independent music businesses across Europe.
IMR acquires, manages and activates music rights catalogues. It works with independent rights owners through a model focused on co-ownership, clarity and long-term catalogue development.
The company offers an alternative to traditional music rights buyers, working alongside owners to develop their existing catalogues. Through the programme, it plans to exchange experience with IMPALA’s network and members in three areas:
- Music rights
- Catalogue management
- Catalogue valuation
Paul Sigvaldsen, IMR’s chief commercial officer and partner, said the company wanted independent rights owners to have more options when considering their catalogues’ future and a partner who understood their value.
“Independence is at the heart of what we do at IMR.”
Sigvaldsen said the two-year commitment reflected IMR’s intention to build relationships with Europe’s independent music community, meet IMPALA members, exchange experiences and explore opportunities to work together.
Helen Smith, IMPALA’s executive chair, welcomed IMR and said independent rights owners needed different options for their catalogues’ future.
Smith cited IMR’s experience, its co-ownership model and its longer-term work with rights owners, saying IMPALA would explore these subjects with the company and its members.
