Spotify has released data showing that US music continues to dominate global streaming, coinciding with the country’s 250th anniversary. The platform also disclosed that it paid music rightsholders more than $11 billion in 2025, the largest annual payout in streaming history, a significant portion of which went to US-based artists.
The report, titled “America’s Sound, Heard Around The World,” found that international listeners streamed tracks featuring at least one American artist 776 billion times over the past year. Domestic demand was also robust, with strong engagement in the heartland.
International streams of American country music grew by more than 94% over the last five years, according to the data. Indie music remained one of the most streamed American genres both domestically and internationally.
