An additional 5,000 tickets will be released on 25 June for the Scorpion Kings Live concert at FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, after more than 500,000 fans joined the online queue during the initial sale. A limited number of hospitality packages will also be made available for the 19 September event, headlined by amapiano stars DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small.
Record-Breaking Demand
The first ticket release generated an unprecedented response, with over half a million users attempting to secure tickets online. The additional allocation is expected to push attendance toward a venue record for a music event.
Amapiano’s Stadium Moment
The concert is set to become the largest amapiano event ever staged. If the remaining tickets sell out, DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small will be the first South African artists and the first amapiano act to headline a sold-out stadium of this scale.
Amapiano, a genre that originated in South Africa, has grown rapidly in the last few years, reaching audiences across Africa, Europe, North America and beyond through streaming, international tours and festival appearances.
Artists React
“This is bigger than us. It’s bigger than one show. It’s about showing the world what South African music can do. To see so many fans supporting Amapiano at this level is something we never take for granted,” said DJ Maphorisa.
“We’ve always believed in the music and in the people who support it. To be part of a moment like this, where piano is making history, is a blessing. We’re grateful to every fan who continues to grow with us,” added Kabza De Small.
How to Get Tickets
The final ticket release will be available from 25 June via Webtickets, Pick n Pay and Boxer stores. Hospitality suite packages are sold separately through MyTicket.
