Independent label Sondela Recordings has launched a new imprint, Sondela Volt, designed to spotlight the deeper, club-driven side of African electronic music.
A home for peak-time energy
While the parent label explores the breadth and global evolution of African electronic music, Sondela Volt narrows the focus to peak-time club sounds. The imprint will champion Afro House, Afro Tech and 3Step, with a primary emphasis on emerging artists.
Debut release
The first single on Sondela Volt, “Ascendance,” arrives on Friday, July 24. The Afro Tech track pairs returning Sondela artist Phila De Giant with emerging talent Ayden J. According to the label, the song establishes the sonic blueprint the imprint intends to pursue.
Sondela Recordings was originally launched in 2021 under Defected Records and has since operated as an independent platform for African electronic music.
