Harvey Blumler, one-half of the UK electronic duo Prospa, is stepping away from touring to recover from persistent ear problems. In a statement shared on Instagram, Blumler said he has been dealing with ear infections and two perforated eardrums over the past six weeks.

He noted that continuing to perform during that time has prevented his ears from healing. “I’ve been seeing a specialist and the advice is to let them heal if I want to continue at all, so for the foreseeable future, I’m going to have sit out the shows,” Blumler wrote. “I’m hoping it will be something within the next four weeks, yet I’m unsure how long it may be. But after proper rest, I’ll be able to come back better than ever.”

Solo shows to continue

Prospa’s upcoming live dates will proceed as planned, with Gosha Smith performing solo in Blumler’s absence.

Recent release and wider context

The duo’s debut album, ‘FREE YOUR MIND’, arrived last month via CircoLoco Records. The 11-track project draws on classic house, techno and UK rave influences, and features collaborations with Cloonee, KETTAMA and Murda Beatz.

Last month, Purple Disco Machine also cancelled a run of shows due to severe tinnitus and hearing loss.
