Octave Records, the audiophile label owned by PS Audio, has released Octave Records: The Collection, a 30-disc box set priced at $299. It brings together the label’s audiophile series and recordings by its signed artists.
The set includes titles from Audiophile Masters, The Art of Hi-Fi and The Audiophile’s Guide. Its recordings span jazz, Americana, flamenco, ragtime, classical and pop, with featured artists including Bonnie and Taylor Sims, Bill Kopper, Jude Kofie, Clay Rose and Gabriel Mervine.
Octave Records used its Pure Direct Stream Digital (DSD) process to record the collection. The company says the process captures audio at a higher resolution than conventional compact disc (CD) sampling.
Each disc combines Super Audio CD (SACD) and CD formats. The discs play on standard CD players as well as SACD, digital versatile disc (DVD) and Blu-ray players; the high-resolution DSD layer requires SACD-compatible equipment.
PS Audio CEO Paul McGowan said the label aims to present performances with maximum fidelity and minimal distortion between performer and listener. The box set is sold only as a complete collection and includes free shipping within the US.
