Ghanaian live music collective Senkulive has released ‘Oblayoo’, the first single from its forthcoming project The Revival. The track arrived on 5 August 2026 and introduces the musical and cultural themes that will define the wider body of work.
‘Oblayoo’ fuses traditional sounds from Accra with Afro-punk, Highlife, rap, and Afrobeats. Sung in English and Ga, the song narrates a journey to the historic coastal district of Jamestown while exploring identity, heritage, and Ga culture.
Project rollout and collaborators
Rather than releasing The Revival as a complete album, Senkulive will issue the songs through a waterfall strategy, adding a new track roughly each month. All previously released songs will remain available on streaming platforms as the sequence progresses.
The next single, ‘Dede’ featuring Susan August, is scheduled for 2 September. It will be followed by ‘Accra We Dey’ with Pure Akan and Aduberks on 1 October, ‘Mala’ with Marince Omario and TiTi Owusu on 4 November, ‘Adoley’ with Mr Poetivist on 2 December, and ‘Praise’ with Dzidzor on 1 January 2027. The title track, ‘The Revival’ featuring Yung Pabi and Senanu Excite, is set for 3 February 2027 and will complete the series.
Each single will be accompanied by a live performance video, highlighting the collective’s emphasis on ensemble playing and live-band arrangements built around keyboards, drums, bass, lead guitar, percussion, saxophone, and trumpet.

‘Oblayoo’ was written by Senkulive leader and keyboardist niiSanku Dromor and composed by the collective. Recording took place at Nafti Studios with engineer Andrew James Addo; mixing and mastering were handled by guitarist Knii Lant3i. The track features vocals by Dromor, drums by Niiayi Lucas, bass by Derrick ‘deebass’, percussion by Mr Quist and Mawuko, saxophone by Nana Sax, and trumpet by Senanu Excite.
‘Oblayoo’ is now available on major streaming platforms, and its live performance video serves as the first instalment of The Revival series.
