Sollos is marking World Mental Health Day with 151 re-engineered tracks on Apple Music and a new iOS app, expanding access to music designed to support focus, relaxation and sleep.

The release totals more than eight hours of music. It combines artists’ recordings with auditory beats, using cognitive science to guide the engineering process.

Artists and recordings

The release includes curated collections featuring the latest music from Olivia Dean and Sam Smith, plus extended remixes of songs by Niall Horan and Shawn Mendes.

Sollos Studios also commissioned a meditation mix of “Always Know,” a track from Jon Batiste’s new album, Monk Meditations.

A collaboration with pianist and composer Chad Lawson produced a complete reworking of his latest album, hush.

Sollos works with Universal Music Group’s global roster, with more than 250 artists participating across pop, R&B (rhythm and blues), classical, soul, electronic and other genres.

Artists participate fully in selecting and re-engineering tracks. The process is transparent and artist-approved, with the stated aim of preserving the original recordings’ creative integrity.

App access and listening features

The new Sollos iOS app is available to download free in the UK and US. Music is accessible through the app and Apple Music’s Sound Therapy.

App users connect an Apple Music account with an active subscription. New users receive a free first month; an Apple Music subscription or free trial is required to access the music.

Listeners can record their mood before and after a session and view a personalised list of the Sollos sessions that had the greatest impact on them.

Emily Ingram, general manager of Sollos at Universal Music Group, said the release expands the available artist repertoire and the app helps listeners select music and assess its effects.

Sollos music can be played on any device, through speakers or headphones.

Beats for focus, relaxation and sleep

The tracks use different auditory beats for three listening categories:

  • Focus: Gamma beats, associated with attention, working memory and cognitive performance.
  • Relax: Theta beats, linked to reduced anxiety and improved mood.
  • Sleep: Delta beats, the slowest on the spectrum, intended to support deep, restorative sleep.

Research findings

A randomised controlled trial published in 2025, involving more than 300 participants, found significantly reduced anxiety and improved mood after 30 minutes of Sollos music with monaural beats, compared with a control.

Monaural beats are pulsing sounds produced by combining two different tones. Sollos also evaluates listeners’ responses through user studies alongside research involving control groups.

Its 2025 Listening Impact User Study involved 140 UK-based participants and recorded the following responses:

  • 91.9% felt calmer after one Relax session.
  • 91.5% reported better focus after one Focus session.
