Artificial intelligence (AI) can take over three recurring administrative tasks for independent artists and their teams, according to Brad Stewart, founder of Music Mogul AI and Mogul Talent Group.
Stewart, who has spent more than two decades in the music business, says the independent era gave artists access to tools once held by labels but also shifted the full workload onto them. Many artists and managers now handle booking follow-up, content production, and back-office administration in addition to creative work.
Booking follow-up and outreach
Stewart says the difference between artists who book steadily and those who do not is rarely talent; it is follow-up. AI can draft outreach, store venue and contact history, and resurface conversations before they go cold.
- Draft outreach messages
- Track venues, contacts, and conversations
- Resurface threads before they go cold
It does not close deals, Stewart notes; a person still assesses the situation, sets the price, and decides which opportunities are worth pursuing. The result is more time to work relationships instead of managing logistics.
Content production and scheduling
Artists are expected to post consistently, but few have time to do it well after performances, Stewart says. AI can turn one idea into a week of captions, cut a single video into multiple clips, draft mailing list notes, and schedule posts overnight.
- Generate a week of captions from one idea
- Cut one video into multiple clips
- Draft mailing list notes and schedule posts
It should not substitute for the artist’s voice, taste, or narrative, he adds. The benefit is a consistent presence without requiring artists to give up their nights to build it.
Administrative tracking and contracts
Stewart describes the unglamorous administration behind working artists: contact lists, show histories, offer sheets, invoices, and payment tracking. AI can keep data clean, draft contracts and invoices, flag missing deposits, and provide a clear pipeline view.
- Maintain contact lists and show histories
- Draft contracts and invoices
- Flag missing deposits and track payments
A person still makes calls and signs deals, but with accurate numbers in front of them. This reduces missed items and allows teams to take on more without dropping existing work, Stewart says.
Stewart argues that the music business has moved from gatekeepers to a myth that artists should do everything alone. Neither model was right, he says. When AI carries repetitive infrastructure, agents, managers, and publicists are freed to focus on judgment, taste, relationships, and in-person dealmaking built on trust.
