Children in Conflict has appointed Rob Williams as chief executive officer of its New York-based U.S. operation. The organization is also establishing a music team to support children affected by war.
Williams, a longtime leader at sister organization War Child UK, will work with chief operating officer Jodi Murphy and draw on the music industry relationships he developed there.
Jim Benner will lead the newly created music team alongside Dawn Kamerling. Its remit covers artist partnerships, live events and campaigns to raise funds and awareness for children affected by war.
Benner plans to adapt the underplay concert series format he developed in the UK through BRITs Week. The organization says the series has raised more than $15 million since 2015.
Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons, a War Child Alliance ambassador, supported the appointment and expansion in a statement accompanying the announcement.
The wider U.S. music initiative is expected to begin in 2027. New York will be the initial base for what the organization describes as a national platform.
