Reservoir has purchased Billy Strayhorn’s publishing catalog, expanding its relationship with the late jazz composer’s estate. The transaction also includes a stake in his name, image and likeness rights.
Strayhorn’s compositions include the jazz standard “Take the ‘A’ Train.” He is best known for his collaboration with Duke Ellington, which spanned decades.
The acquisition builds on a partnership Reservoir began in 2014 with the composer’s estate, Billy Strayhorn Songs, Inc. Financial terms were not disclosed.
