SOCAN has joined One Arena, extending the GEMA-founded network for tracking international live performance royalties beyond Europe. The initiative gives rightsholders more information about expected payments, their timing and how they are calculated.
One Arena brings together eight collective management societies: GEMA, SOCAN, SUISA, AKM, Buma-Stemra, KODA, TONO and OSA. By sharing concert and royalty information, the societies aim to give music creators, publishers and their representatives greater visibility into licensing and royalty distribution across territories.
The network lists upcoming concerts, produces royalty forecasts, sends setlists to the relevant societies and tracks licensing and payment status. GEMA CEO Dr. Tobias Holzmüller said SOCAN’s participation will bring Canadian market expertise to the network. SOCAN CEO Jennifer Brown said it will help the society track its members’ performances abroad.
Each collecting society remains responsible for licensing music rights and paying royalties in its territory under its own rules and established practices.
