The African music scene is rising and women are at the heart of its future. In a bold move to uplift and spotlight the next generation of female creatives, GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Tems has launched The Leading Vibe Initiative, a groundbreaking platform dedicated to supporting, connecting, and amplifying women across Africa who are shaping the future of music.
Born From Experience, Built for Impact
Tems, a self-taught artist who has broken global boundaries with her unique sound and powerful voice, knows firsthand the challenges women face in the music industry. Her journey, marked by resilience, talent, and independence, has inspired this initiative designed to close the gender gap in music and create lasting change.
The Leading Vibe Initiative is more than just a program, it’s a movement. It offers young women access to the tools, resources, and networks they need to thrive creatively and professionally. Whether you’re an emerging artist, songwriter, or producer, this is a platform built to help you rise.
The Launch: Lagos, Nigeria
The initiative officially kicks off in Lagos, Nigeria—Tems’ hometown on August 8-9, where selected participants will engage in immersive programming curated specifically for women in music. The two-day experience will include:
- Workshops with industry professionals
- Masterclasses from leading voices in music
- Panel discussions tackling real issues faced by women creatives
- Networking opportunities with influential executives and peers
Women based in Nigeria between the ages of 18 and 35 can now apply for this transformative experience. It’s an open call to dreamers, trailblazers, and future stars who are ready to take the next step in their musical journey.
From Lagos to the Continent
While the first event takes place in Lagos, the Leading Vibe Initiative is just getting started. With plans to expand across the continent, the platform aims to build a pan-African network of empowered women in music creating a ripple effect of opportunity, mentorship, and collaboration.
This is more than an initiative.
It’s a wave.
It’s a network.
It’s a vibe built for women, by women, from Africa to the world.
Stay tuned as we continue to follow this inspiring journey. The future of African music is female and it’s already leading.
