Udio Details Upcoming AI Music Service, Starstruck

Udio has revealed features of its forthcoming AI-powered music platform, Starstruck, which operates under licensing agreements with rights holders.

Udio is preparing to launch a new AI-based music service later this year, built upon licensing arrangements with music labels.

Service Features

The service, named Starstruck, will provide users with four distinct modes for music creation and manipulation. These modes are: Cover, allowing for stylistic reinterpretations of songs; Reimagine, which alters the musical composition while retaining lyrics; Remix, enabling genre or style shifts to existing recordings; and Create, where users can generate music by pairing original lyrics with an artist’s voice, subject to content restrictions.

According to a report summarizing a private webinar for Kobalt, a licensing partner, copyright for all generated recordings will remain with the original rights holders. Revenue distribution will allocate a share to songwriters that is described as “significantly more” than standard streaming royalty splits.
