Penske Media Corporation has acquired Vox Media, the digital publisher whose portfolio includes The Verge, SB Nation, Popsugar and Eater. The acquisition unites PMC’s existing titles, such as Billboard, Variety and Rolling Stone, with Vox Media’s brands under a new subsidiary called PMX.

PMC was already the largest shareholder in Vox Media. The newly acquired brands will now sit alongside PMC’s other publications and brands within PMX.

Vox Media’s brands include:

  • The Verge
  • SB Nation
  • Popsugar
  • Studios
  • Eater
  • The Dodo
  • Thrillist
  • Punch
  • Creative

PMC described the deal as creating “the largest publisher in digital media, reaching hundreds of millions of people every month and producing more than 300 live events each year.”

Ryan Pauley, president of Vox Media, will serve as president of PMX. He said:

“Our opportunity now is to steward and grow these brands with a continued focus on brand leadership, editorial strength, audience connection, community, and live events.”
