Miami’s Club Space and UK label Solid Grooves have launched donation drives to support victims of the 24 July earthquakes in Venezuela, which killed at least 1,450 people and left tens of thousands displaced.
Two powerful tremors, measuring 7.2 and 7.5 in magnitude, struck densely populated areas including La Guaira and the capital Caracas on Wednesday. More than 3,150 people were injured and over 46,600 remain missing, with recovery efforts still in their early stages.
Solid Grooves residents Miguelle & Tons , who are Venezuelan, will donate their performance fee from the label’s upcoming party at DC-10 in Ibiza to organizations working on the ground. The label and the club will also contribute a portion of proceeds from their next event on 2nd July.
“This is deeply personal to us, with Miguelle & Tons and members of our extended Solid Grooves family calling Venezuela home and having extremely close ties to the country. Our thoughts are with everyone affected.”
The team added that they will update their website with details on the humanitarian response and a list of supported organizations to encourage further contributions.
Club Space in Miami has pledged to match donations made to the Global Empowerment Network in the venue’s name. The club has introduced donation add-ons via DICE for all shows this weekend and next, and has also set up a general donation page for those not attending events.
“We wish all the people in Venezuela safety and peace, and will try to do our part here in Miami.”
UNICEF has also launched an appeal outlining ways to support relief efforts.
