Ferret Music, the independent label founded in New Jersey in 1996 by NORA vocalist Carl Severson, is relaunching with a series of vinyl reissues and new artist signings.
The label played a defining role in shaping the sound of metalcore, punk, and hardcore throughout the 2000s, releasing landmark albums from acts including Converge, Every Time I Die, Zao, Poison The Well, Killswitch Engage, The Devil Wears Prada, and Madball. In 2010, Warner Music Group acquired Ferret’s catalog. Severson and then co-owner Paul Conroy went on to found Good Fight Entertainment.
Severson will continue to operate Good Fight Management alongside partner Ethan Harrison, representing a roster that includes Great American Ghost, Denial of Life, and Johnny Booth.
New Signings and Vinyl Campaign
The relaunched Ferret has signed two new acts: Long Island, New York-based band BORE and Michigan/New York metalcore group Wounded Touch. The label will also issue a series of vinyl pressings drawn from its back catalog, with select titles from Good Fight Music folded into the release schedule.
The vinyl series opens with Remembering Never‘s God Save Us and Torn Apart‘s The Fifty-Ninth Session EP, both available on vinyl for the first time.
“I started Ferret as a way to be more a part of hardcore. My friends all had talent and were in a band (ENDEAVOR, Ferret 01) and I wanted to do more than carry things to contribute to what they were doing. It was a passion that turned into a life and into a career. For the vast majority of its initial existence I worked with my friends, worked with bands we loved listening to and it was just honestly an adventure. We grew and eventually saw behind the curtain and ventured beyond it. Things changed. My friends didn’t, and we still love listening… So here we are.”
