Providence Equity Partners is moving to take full ownership of THE-TEAM, the global talent agency previously known as Wasserman, by purchasing the stake held by founder Casey Wasserman.
The private equity firm already owns approximately 60% of the company. Acquiring Wasserman’s remaining interest will give Providence complete control. Wasserman stepped down as CEO in February amid controversy over his association with Jeffrey Epstein.
The transaction has not yet closed, with finalization anticipated in the coming weeks. Other parties that had explored a deal included United Talent Agency, as well as private equity firms Permira and New Mountain Capital. Wasserman has reportedly signed a non-compete agreement as part of the sale.
