UNIFIED Music Group has upgraded its Community Music platform to provide independent artists with real-time funding offers, calculated from projected streaming royalties.

The Australian independent music company launched Community Music as a curated distribution service that advances capital to artists based on future earnings. A new back-end system now enables the platform to compute available funds instantly, replacing periodic manual assessments.

The expansion follows the February 2026 appointment of startup investor and capital strategy specialist Matt Allen as Head of Capital.

How the funding model works

Funding offers range from AUD $2,500 to more than AUD $5 million, recalculated monthly using each artist’s streaming data and royalty forecasts. Artists, labels, and rightsholders can view their current eligibility through a real-time dashboard.

Repayments are automatically deducted from incoming royalties. No equity changes hands, no rights are transferred, and artists retain 100% ownership and control.

Australian and international independent artists can apply to join the Community Music roster.

First locally owned platform of its kind

While platforms such as OpenWav and Sound Royalties offer similar upfront funding, Community Music is the first Australian-owned business to build data-driven underwriting and funding for the independent sector.

UNIFIED said the expansion “comes as major labels [in Australia] are embracing a global shift away from local investment.”

“To build a sustainable career today, artists need to be constantly touring, recording, and releasing music. For independent artists, that takes a massive financial toll. Easy access to funding is a sure way to help independent artists, in Australia and around the world, grow on their own terms when traditional funding routes are drying up.”
Jaddan Comerford, UNIFIED Music Group Founder and CEO

“We built this so artists can see exactly what they’re eligible for, calculated against their actual current earnings. Funding shouldn’t feel like a lottery or a trap; it should just be a support tool for your next tour, album, or campaign.”
Francesca Caldara, UNIFIED Music Group Vice President of Recorded Music
