Believe Music Publishing (BMP) has signed a long-term agreement with independent publisher Jack Russell Music (JRM) to administer its catalog and provide sync and creative development services.
Founded by Clare Ram in 2007, JRM’s roster includes artists and writers such as Vybz Kartel, Sly Dunbar, Brooklyn Funk Essentials, and Michael Oliviere, with a focus on reggae and dancehall.
The catalog contains several widely sampled recordings:
- 20th Century Steel Band’s “Heaven and Hell is on Earth,” which has been sampled by Jennifer Lopez (“Jenny From The Block”), Gwen Stefani (“Hollaback Girl”), Black Eyed Peas, Mos Def, and Grandmaster Flash.
- Major Lazer’s “Pon De Floor” featuring Vybz Kartel, sampled in Beyoncé‘s “Run The World (Girls)” and tracks by Trey Songz and Snoop Lion.
