Ghanaian artist Jay Bahd has partnered with music distribution and artist services platform WAVVI to launch a talent discovery campaign that will give one emerging artist the chance to collaborate with him on a new track.

Artists can enter by distributing their music through WAVVI before 15 September. Jay Bahd will review qualifying submissions and personally select the artist he wants to work with.

The initiative pairs Jay Bahd’s standing in Ghana’s music and youth culture with WAVVI’s focus on providing African artists access to distribution, promotion, performance analytics and locally accessible payment methods, including mobile money.

WAVVI co-founders Jennifer Yaa Akoto Kieck and Tom Russell said:

“Africa has no shortage of talent. What is often missing is access to the right infrastructure, opportunities and routes to market. This partnership with Jay Bahd connects all three: artists can release their music through WAVVI, put it in front of a major artist and create a genuine opportunity for collaboration.”

Jay Bahd said:

“There are talented artists everywhere who deserve to be heard. I’ve teamed up with WAVVI because I want to hear what artists are creating and find someone with a track I genuinely want to be part of.”

Jay Bahd is associated with Ghana’s Asakaa movement and has become a prominent figure in the country’s contemporary music scene, particularly among younger audiences.

Submissions close on 15 September.
