The single “Rein Me In,” a collaboration between Sam Fender and Olivia Dean, has become the longest-running No. 1 in UK chart history, spending 19 weeks at the summit.
It surpasses Frankie Laine’s “I Believe,” which held the top spot for 18 weeks across three separate runs in 1953, a record that stood for more than seven decades.
The track’s ascent was itself a milestone: it took 35 weeks from its first chart entry to reach No. 1, the longest climb ever recorded. Once there, it became the first single to return to No. 1 four times during a single chart run.
Beyond the peak position, “Rein Me In” has accumulated 58 consecutive weeks in the UK Top 40, 31 consecutive weeks in the Top 10, and 41 total weeks inside the Top 10. It now holds the records for the longest unbroken Top 40 streak, the longest Top 10 run since charts began, and the most cumulative weeks in the Top 10 for any non-Christmas single.
In Ireland, the song has logged 13 non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 and 57 weeks on the chart overall. In Australia, it previously reached No. 1 and has charted for 36 weeks.
