South African singer-songwriter Aubrey Qwana has released a four-track collection, 2018 EP, comprising unpolished recordings from the early stages of his career. The project, announced via Instagram, is available exclusively on YouTube.
Raw Recordings from 2018
Qwana stated that the songs were recorded in 2018, before he gained recognition as an Afro pop and Afro soul artist. He chose to leave the tracks unmixed and unmastered, preserving their original state. The release was intended to offer fans a nostalgic experience and to mark the memories of that period.
Tracklist and Production
The EP includes four tracks:
- Ngasemfuleni
- Imana (featuring Lida Srat)
- Ntombi
- Broke (featuring Jua)
Producer Ndu Browns worked on all the songs, contributing to the project’s early sound.
Artist Evolution
Qwana initially started as a rapper before transitioning into Afro pop and Afro soul. The 2018 EP recordings capture a formative phase in his musical development.
Digital-Only Release
By limiting the release to YouTube, Qwana provides direct access to the material and highlights the role of digital platforms in preserving career milestones. The project also allows newer listeners to explore his early work.
