Chocolate City has launched a ₦50 million lawsuit against rapper Odumodublvck (Tochukwu Gbubemi Ojogwu) following an alleged assault on a label employee at the 2025 Flytime Festival in Lagos.
Alleged Backstage Confrontation
According to court documents filed at the High Court of Lagos State, the incident occurred on December 22, 2025, backstage at the Eko Convention Centre. The claimant, Chocolate City’s Project Manager and Public Relations Officer, was present alongside a performing artiste, the artiste’s personal security, a bouncer, and accredited event security when Odumodublvck entered the restricted area.
The filing states that after brief interactions with others, the rapper approached the claimant and asked whether he or his brother worked for Chocolate City. Moments later, Odumodublvck allegedly struck the claimant in the face without warning, shoved him aggressively, and issued verbal threats. Security personnel intervened, but the rapper continued making threats, including statements that he would “end” the claimant.
The suit further alleges that an associate of Odumodublvck, identified as “Shagba,” poured an alcoholic drink on the claimant during the confrontation, acting in concert with the defendant. After being restrained, Odumodublvck allegedly attempted to return and made additional threats, saying he would beat and “fuck up” the claimant by any means necessary. The incident reportedly caused panic backstage, forcing security to evacuate the claimant and his team to a secure location.
Medical Treatment and Financial Claims
The claimant says he sustained facial and neck pain, swelling, persistent headaches, general body pain, and psychological trauma. He was treated at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where doctors advised him to suspend work and observe strict rest.
Court documents detail financial losses, including approximately ₦2 million in medical treatment, ₦1 million in additional healthcare-related expenses, and ₦1.5 million in other out-of-pocket costs. The claimant also states that his injuries prevented him from fulfilling several professional commitments during the festive period, including an overseas engagement with a Chocolate City artiste, resulting in missed income and career opportunities.
The suit seeks ₦50 million in damages, which the claimant says accounts for lost earnings, delayed project deliverables, reduced productivity, and missed business opportunities. He intends to rely on contracts, booking confirmations, and other documentary evidence during the trial.
Label’s Response and Separate Suit
In a statement, Chocolate City confirmed that legal proceedings have commenced and said the employee has received medical care and support. The label stressed that staff welfare, safety, and well-being remain a top priority and expressed confidence that the judicial process will ensure a fair determination of the matter.
The lawsuit follows a separate suit filed against Odumodublvck by rapper Blaqbonez. Odumodublvck has not yet commented on the case.
