Igwe Aka has released a new single, “CHASE,” featuring Nigerian rapper ARTSALGHUL, furthering his blend of Igbo heritage and Sacramento-rooted trap music.
The track arrives in mid-2026, roughly four months after his project ‘WAWA MUSIC’ solidified his ties to his Eastern Nigerian background. That two-song release included “EGONOMICS” and “BACKASSI,” the latter a collaboration with Alté artist Odunsi (The Engine). Aka gained local attention by incorporating Igbo-language lyrics, traditional instruments, and culturally specific cover imagery.
On “CHASE,” he continues that approach over a trap production style associated with Nigeria’s underground scene. He delivers the lines, “I waka from the East side(East), My cana from the West side(West)”, referencing his Igbo origins and his upbringing in California. ARTSALGHUL enters midway with gritty vocals, complementing the tone and reinforcing the track’s alternative, underground character.
The single also features a percussive element that some listeners have likened to the damage sound from the video game Minecraft. The release extends Aka’s cross-cultural fusion, which some observers view as part of a broader shift among diasporic artists.
