Dutch DJ and producer Chris Stussy has changed his artist name to Chris Stassy, announcing the update on Instagram on 18th August.

The artist, whose legal name is Niels Christian Steenbergen, posted a photo of himself beside a poster that read: “One letter, same mind. Same music, same vibe. Thank ‘U’ for everything, ‘A’ new chapter in my life.” His social media handles now reflect the new spelling.

No reason was given for the change. Some fans have speculated in comments about a possible unpublicised conflict with the American streetwear brand Stüssy.

His debut album, Lost, Found & Forgotten…, was released under the original Chris Stussy alias this past March. The name of his label, Up The Stuss, appears unchanged.

N.A.M.E. party dates

To mark the new name, Chris Stassy will host editions of his N.A.M.E. party series in Birmingham on 22nd August and Amsterdam on 27th August, described as the start of a “new era”.
